Music was part of her life from an early age. Whether she was taking classical piano lessons; singing while her father played twelve string guitar in talent shows; singing in choirs; playing roles including lead in musicals; or playing tenor saxophone in symphonic bands; or DJing her college radio station; Stephanie grew up immersed in music.
Stephanie became fascinated by the San Francisco dance scene in Washington, DC where she returned to after college and finally moved to San Francisco in 2002.
Stephanie's mixes are characterized by rump-shakin' rhythms, goth key signatures, electro-jazz syncopations, and funky-twerky melodies. Her style is a fusion of house, tech house, and techno. Stephanie's style features elements from all over the musical spectrum including hip hop, jazz, & classical music always with a provocative melody. Her style is characterized by driving beats combined with rich & full melodic elements, heavy jazz influences, and the sometimes minimal vocals that usually amount to some sort of party-time instruction. No matter what she plays, she always serves it funked up.
Stephanie has played as far away as Paris, Washington DC, Burning Man and all over San Francisco. She's DJed @ many warehouses around San Francisco and clubs such as Anu, The End Up, Mighty, Paradise Lounge, Wish Bar, 222, Harvey's, Sugar, Underground SF, Swig, Olive, Project One, Skylark, il Pirata, and Temple.
She's also plays a regular guest DJ on various Bay area radio programmes: Stanford Radio KZSU's Big Love Show a 12-year running Bay Area/internet jewel, and recently Eclektronik Groove and Paradigm on Frisky Radio; as well as for highly-respected internet channels & programmes on deepmixfm.com with the crew from El Otro Mondo. Stephanie is a regular guest on the Minimal - Techno radio show, Motor City Jam with residents Odd Number, Oro Toro, and Boombot. She's DJed in exotic places as close as Black Rock City at Burning Man and as far away as Paris. DJ Highlights for Stephanie include DJing at Burning Man and at Burning Man Camp Fundraisers for infamous crews such as the Duck Pond Crew and Green Gorilla Lounge, playing Boom Boom Woods, playing in her home town of Washington, DC, and at her favourite Parisian 3-room 2-floor basement club in Paris, France.
Stephanie's production company, Zenomena Productions, is currently responsible for throwing two regular parties: Funkentanzen and TekAndHaus. Funkentanzen flies in guest DJs from far-away, exotic places and currently resides at Paradise Lounge. TekandHaus highlights local talent. Funkentanzen started out in the basement of Temple but now lives @ Paradise Lounge. Zenomena Productions has flown in Brett Johnson, Burnski, and Monty Luke to name a few.
Other than Stephanie's residency at TekAndHaus, Stephanie plays the first Monday's of the month at Native Wish Mondays (Wish Bar) with residents Supacreep (Native) and Izzy Z (Roundmusic). Stephanie can also be found DJing around San Francisco and Europe and coming to a warehouse near you.
